Dear Task Core Members,
It is with deep regret and sorrow that I bring you news of the passing of Sher Lee Sommers, our founder and our first president.
Only this year did I really get to know Sher Lee after asking her to write the history of Task Core. She was such a wealth of knowledge and was very giving and helpful. I totally see why she was one of the first recipients of the Beacon Award.
I am so thankful that I was able to know her, and that she was able to participate in our first Board meeting this year. I remember Sher Lee saying, “I had never been President of anything before, but I took the job.” And she did a great job!
Sher Lee was a talented singer and also a Marriage & Family Counselor, and I found the following remarks she made to be quite insightful:
I think that a counselor should have had counseling for herself, achieved understanding regarding herself, be in control of her own life but not be a controlling person, have had varied life experiences, not look for solutions so much as just "stay in the moment" with her client and listen to and observe her client carefully, and whether sensing or intuitive, remember those abilities are only useful if she is usually correct in the conclusions she draws.
Sher Lee will be deeply missed by all of us. Our hearts and prayers go out to her loved ones.
Sincerely,
Cathy Siderys
President
